GoRecess Studio Spotlight: Bikram Hot Yoga Midwest; Chicago, IL

Bikram-Midwest-2

Types of classes are offered: Bikram Hot Yoga Midwest offers Bikram's Beginning Yoga Class. It is a series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises performed in a room that is heated to 105 degrees with 40% humidity. The series never varies. It is a full mind and body physical therapy.

What makes your classes unique? All of our teachers are certified by Bikram Choudhury and work closely with the studio owner, Jessica Rask, to further their knowledge and training. There are many yoga teachers today who have been certified online or in weekend courses. Our instructors leave the comforts of home to be fully immersed in teacher training with Bikram for nine weeks. In the time spent training with Jessica, instructors learn how to fine tune teaching so we never have to use hands on adjustments (those are NOT SAFE for the student as the teacher cannot see inside your body to know what is going on). All of our instructors are well versed in how to use the yoga to accelerate the healing of injuries. We will NEVER turn anyone away from yoga class. We have had students practice in full leg casts, who walk with a cane, pre- and post-ACL and meniscus surgery, with broken wrists as well as with MS, RA, diabetes, cancer, you name it. There is always something you can do and we can definitely help you heal your body if you are willing to put in the effortBikram-Midwest-1

Advice for first-timers: Come with an open mind and a smile. Don't take yourself too seriously! All you have to do is try - there's never a bad time to start. A year from now you will wish you had started today!

Our favorite things to do in Chicago: Our neighborhood, Andersonville, has a lovely array of restaurants and shops to hit. We all love the beach!

The scoop on the awesome staff: We have a full section on our website devoted to our teachers so you can get to know us better! Jessica has been to four continents, Elizabeth was an actress (pre-teaching career), Cat has bounced all around the globe, Charles S cannot eat animals from nursery rhymes, Allan is a professional classical bass player, and Charles G is an architect!

 • Backrooms is a survival horror game that takes place in a seemingly endless maze of interconnected rooms and hallways known as the backrooms game. The objective of the game is to find a way out while avoiding dangerous entities and maintaining your sanity. As you start the game, you find yourself in a randomly generated room with minimal light and a flashlight as your only source of illumination.

 • The rooms vary in size and layout, with some containing furniture, debris, or even strange objects. Your first task is to explore the backrooms and gather any useful items you can find, such as batteries for your flashlight or food to sustain yourself.
